It’s the newest addition to the brand’s gorgeous line of audiophile-grade hi-fi components.
Teac’s Reference 500 series of hi-fi components is designed to deliver high-fidelity audio similar to its flagship Reference 700 series, but in a more compact and affordable package. Basically, they’re designed for audiophiles who don’t have quite as deep pockets.
Earlier this year, the Japanese hi-fi manufacturer introduced a gorgeous stereo power amplifier, the Teac AP-507 ($2,199), to its Reference 500 series. And now it’s adding another hi-fi component, only this one should be of particular interest to CD superfans.
Teac PD-507T
The Teac PD-507T is a CD transport that’s designed to be paired with (and look like) the brand’s Reference 500 series of hi-fi components.
It’s a CD transport and not a CD player, meaning it only handles the CD mechanism and CD playback and requires a separate DAC — like the Teac UD-507 ($2,100), also in its Reference 500 series — to work.
By specializing in pristine digital output without a digital-to-analog converter, Teac claims that the PD-507T “enables ultra-clean CD playback through various audio systems equipped with digital inputs.”
The real magic of the PD-507T is that it uses Teac’s in-house manufactured CD transport mechanism, which the brand says has a “long-standing track record of success in broadcast applications.”
This CD transport mechanism is combined with a semi-floating mounting structure and a specially designed drive circuit. This, according to the brand, allows the PD-507T to achieve “a markedly more refined audio experience.”
Teac integrated the PD-507T with other advanced technologies to improve audio quality.
For example, there are separate power supplies for each clock and digital output. And there’s a new feature that allows users to turn off unused digital outputs and therefore ensure an even purer audio signal.
Additionally, the PD-507T features the same amber-colored full-dot OLED display and control terminals as other Reference 500 Series components — specifically, all 507 components — which looks nice and feels familiar.
Price and availability
The Teac PD-507T will be available for purchase in Q4 of 2025. It’ll come in two different finishes, either black or silver, and cost $1,700.
