There are a lot of differences between audiophile recordings and mainstream recordings. First, they’re done “live,” the entire band performs and sings, so there are no overdubs, no post session AutoTune, processing, and little or no dynamic range compression or equalization. Audiophile recordings are minimally mic-ed with just two mics for the entire band, mainstream recordings close mic each instrument. There’s one other really important difference: audiophile recordings take place in concert halls or churches, NOT recording studios!
