That’s one way to prove you’re still the real First Lady.
While the world continues to collapse around her, Melania Trump was looking relatively unfazed as she boarded a plane on Tuesday to visit an addiction recovery center for infants in West Virginia. The First Lady wore a green muslin shirt dress by Cefinn, which, by her standards, rings up at an affordable $450 (three digits are better than four). She also wore her now-signature sky-high stilettos, this time opting for a colorful pair of Louboutins.
Trump seemed unbothered by her recent controversy courtesy of Donald Trump’sex-wife Ivana. While Ivana was promoting her new book, Raising Trump, she ruffled some White House feathers while discussing her ex-husband’s new gig on Good Morning America. “I have the direct number to the White House,” she said. “But I [don’t] really want to call him there because Melania is there, and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that.”
She then offered the bold proclamation: “I’m basically first Trump wife. O.K.? I’m First Lady.”
As it so happens, Melania Trump disagreed with Ivana, going so far as to release a statement to let her, and the world, know.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the president. She loves living in Washington, D.C., and is honored by her role as First Lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. Unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise.”
Ivana later told Fox & Friends that she had sent an apology text to Melania, saying, “I sent Melania the text, that the last thing I would like to do is say something bad about you, you know, because you are family. And I don’t say anything bad or do anything back to the family member.”
It’s unclear whether Melania received or responded to said text. If colorful footwear is a coded message between the two of them, though, it will be impossible for Ivana to miss it.
