The Near Future – Chappie in the real world

Google-owned Boston Dynamics released a video of their latest robot dog “Spot”. The robot wanders the hallways, climbs stairs, and navigates rocky terrain outside the office building. But things get scary at 28 seconds into the video when someone tries to kick “Spot” over. The robot shows remarkable agility, scrambling in an incredibly life-like way to stay upright. And it succeeds.

The description of the video reads, “Spot is a four-legged robot designed for indoor and outdoor operation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. Spot has a sensor head that helps it navigate and negotiate rough terrain. Spot weighs about 160 lbs.”

A cool bit of technology worth watching … Have an odd desire to watch I Robot or Bicentennial Man?
